How to meet people on cruise ships?

I am 14 and am going on a cruise this summer. I want to meet a lot of people and have a really good time, but I am kind of shy at first. Last cruise, i went into the teen club but like everybody seemed to know everyone and it was awkward so i left. How can i meet people this year?

At least go and check out the activity group for your age on the first day of the cruise. You'll meet others your age to hang out with, even if you don't want to do any of the organized activities.





Also, you might want to check out CruiseCritic.com. Click on "Boards" at the top of the page and then go to the board for your cruise line. You could also check out the "Roll Call" board for your particular sailing - people go there to "chat" [not in real time] about their upcoming cruise and get to know each other a bit before they sail. Often the group will get together early on in the cruise. You could arrange to do that with other teens. There is also a section on "Teens" or something like that [or the "Family Cruising" board] that you might want to check.





Try to just relax and strike up a conversation with other teens around the pool, etc. They're probably just as shy as you feel.

Reply:I have the same question. Im kinda shy 2 what i try to do is look for someone thats easy to talk to. Theres people in the same position that your in so their lookin for people to meet 2.
Reply:You meet people on a cruise ship the same way you meet people in your home town. If you aren't comfortable meeting people, then it doesn't matter where you are... you still won't meet anyone.
Reply:Well the teenagers club seems to be a good option for you. But dont force it. Dont go there to make friends just go there to have a good time and take friendship as a bonus. Either you ran into a large group of friends on your last cruise or you assumed theyre where friends because theyre where talking and so on. But think of it like this: There are like 3000 guests on a normal sized cruise ships and x number of theese are kids at your own age. The passengers are from all across the world so whats the risk that everybody except you knows eachother? Get in there, relax and have fun! Johan
