So people don't usually meet eachother throughout their daily grinds, or what?

College campuses, grocery stores, gyms, casinos, libraries etc... People don't actually meet eachother in these places or what? You can see around 200-500 people a day, everyday, and you don't meet any of them? So how does this work for most of you out there? - Do you just meet people in situations you're thrown into like class or church groups or work, or by association and references from friends and family? People don't actually make effort to meet people on their own?

So people don't usually meet eachother throughout their daily grinds, or what?
I usually meet friends through other friends, or in class, or at work, etc. I don't usually meet people just randomly while walking around in public. It is just easier to get to know people when they are in the same environment as you again and again.

I actually met my fiance because he worked with my ex boyfriend. The ex was a major jerk, so I wasn't too worried about his reaction.
Reply:Not if one of the parties doesn't try. Sometimes we get so caught up in our daily lives that we pass up several opportunities. Peripheral vision doesn't allow us the focus we need to acknowledge someone who "doesn't matter". And for good reason: a smile goes a long way...sometimes it'll even follow you home and look through your window!
Reply:I have been with my bf for ages but sometimes i think that if i were singlr it would actually be pretty hard to meet someone other then just for a hook up at a club...in movies they seem to like be at the grocery store and they drop something and then all of a sudden the person of there dreams is in front of them lol but i guess it would happen sometimes. I think you kinda need to meet through people or at school etc...but thats just my opinion :D
Reply:our society has trained us to treat these everyday "strangers" like crap. people don't even smile and wave.

i went to a Christian church last sunday and was immediately invited for supper to a family's house after the service. little different than the "gym".
Reply:whos stoping you go for it
