How to meet people while travelling?

so i am finally doing what i want with my life, i am following the career i want,i am in the place in my life that i have been striving for and working towards for years and i am very very happy. i'm 24 and living the next 6 months in new zealand and australia performing, then head back to the uk, to perform there all through the summer and so on. the problem is that i am quite lonely. While i have some fantastic friends around me when i'm in the uk i find it hard to make worthwhile relationships when i'm travelling so much. Meeting a partner is very very difficult when you only spend a month at a time in any one city and unfortunatly doing the kind of work i do that is the only real option. and then if i meet someone in the uk i have to be away from them for 6 months of the year and how can a new friendship let alone a new relationship survive that. what can i do i feel that all i've been working for is stopping me from adding important people to my life

How to meet people while travelling?
Do you want to meet fellow travellers or locals? I think if you are after some company start off by staying in backpacker/hostels because they have social events and advertise things like day tours,3 day surfing trips (in Australia for example) that other young tourists like yourself can go along to. And you will meet a whole lot of people in the same situation, travelling on their own, not really knowing anyone. You can check out events on any of the hostel noticeboards of what they have going on that you can join, or read a free mag called "British Balls" in Australia which is targeted at British backpackers, and it is full of things to go along to. What about going on-line to meet other travellers who want travel buddies? There would be some websites which would have ads you can place to meet fellow travellers. To meet locals, it is hard at first for anyone, and will be a challenge and you will feel lonely at times. That's normal and a part of travelling. I think it just starts with getting to know 1 person and they can introduce you to others and your social network just grows from there. It will be a great experience, will make you stronger and enjoy your time!!
