How do I meet new people/friends?

I Just moved to an average sized town and started going to school. I don't have a job at the moment. I want to meet people and make new friends but im not extremely outgoing and im only 19. Im sick of being alone and having nothing to do here. Any suggestions would be great and don't say myspace. Maybe even some help on meeting some people at school, as it seems like everyone is on there own schedule there and doesn't really want anything to do with me. Oh, and trust me when i say I am a decent looking guy.

How do I meet new people/friends?
well i can relate with this type of question 100 % i mean i move every year to a dif state! it pretty much sucks but it has helped me become more social and approachable at skool and just about everywhere.. well what i do is basically ask a question to a person next toyou.. it can b at skool,work or anywhere just get a conversation started. persoanlly i like to ask questions. maybe compliment them on something and that will get something started. dont b affraid to b yourself.

but if you want to get out more, then go out side and just start talking to everyone you see, and most likely you will find a place where there are alot of neat people to hang with.


or ask around if there is like a sports team or a knitting group, depending on what you like to do.
