How to meet international people on Myspace?

What in your opinion is the best way to meet people on Myspace? Do you just send them a message and wait till' they respond and go from there? Do you add them as a friend right away? I live in Texas but I want to meet people from all over the world, especially Europe, how can I make friends on Myspace, what are the best messages, intros, questions to ask??

How to meet international people on Myspace?
Find profiles you like, and e-mail the person saying something that you have in common. After a few e-mail exchanges send out a friend request. I used to have a myspace account and I always hated when people would send me a friend request without ever e-mailing me. A lot of people are in competition to have lots on friends and don't care who they are.
