So When I Meet People And Tell Them I'm Gay?

Before I meet people I tell them straight up that i'm gay and I make sure that they are ok with this. So When I meet them in person they always assume i'm going to be really feminine %26amp; "sweet". Then when I tell them that i'm not like that they are shocked. Why do some people stereotype gay people this way? Are you quilty of doing this yourself? :)

So When I Meet People And Tell Them I'm Gay?
I guess they haven't really met or see what gay really meant

maybe they dont know that gay is just a sexual preference and has nothing to do with a person's behavior

I admit that as a teen, I use to have this misguided idea too

But now that I;ve know more about it, I'm not that misguided about gay anymore
Reply:No. I know plenty of gay and bisexual men who are very, very manly. The bulk of my friends are bi and not one of them is feminine. I am guilty of one thing though. Crossdressing men, who look nothing like women, who don't even bother to shave their face or legs, and who wear unflattering clothes make me a bit uncomfortable. I always want to be like, d@mn, why can't you at least try to look like a woman if you're going to dress like one.
Reply:Cause that's the image that's projected through pop culture.

No, I don't do that. I have lots of gay friends and very few of them fit that stereotype.
Reply:I am not guilty of this. I know every onoe is different. I dont assume things. They probably stereotype because that is what they see in the media. People these days cant make their own judgements!
Reply:every gay person i've met acted like the opposite sex.

i understand there are people out there that don't act like that, but of course they don't stand out.
Reply:alot of people "act gay" who are gay... just for the pure show of it.
