In college will you meet the same people you knew in high school or will you be able to meet new people?

At my highschool there are a lot of cliques. When I go to college I want to be able to venture out and start all over. I want to be unknown. Basically there are two cliques in my school that never talked or were really ever friends and two of those people from the other clique will be attending the same college as me next year. Will I end up getting stuck with these people or will I be able to meet new people without them holding me back?

In college will you meet the same people you knew in high school or will you be able to meet new people?
If you're going to a large school or a school away from home, you will be starting all over. If you're going to a local junior college or a small school close to home, it will be harder for you to get away from other's ideas of you carried over from high school. You will meet new people wherever you go, it's just easier to form new friendships and groups without high school expectations if you're away from home or at a larger school.
Reply:This depends on a very simple answer. Where is everyone in your high school going to attend college. If you're all going to go to the local junior college then yes, you will probably be with the same people. But if you're going to go to a place that's far away from where you live now then you can probably start off fresh.

I would also just point out one other thing.

I am 25 now, and I'm a few years out of college. I will say that many kids grow up in college. Not right away, but a lot of that petty clique B.S. goes away. You will become a completely different person in the next few years. Just go out and make as many friends as you can. College is the best time of your life.

Best of luck!
Reply:When you got to college everyone is so different. The people in your high school change usually for the better and you won't see much of cliques.

Of course there are cliques but they aren't as bad as high school. These people have been through the things you have and don't feel the need to cling to old habits. Make sure you don't just find a friend and then be over with that because you will then be known as the kid who with no friends!!
Reply:A college campus is so big you may never even see these people. Even if they end up in one of your classes, which I doubt would happen, you won't notice them in a class of 100 or more students. Don't worry about this. Those 2 will be lost in the crowd. Start fresh, make new friends, have fun.
Reply:College is a WHOLE different world. People are way more accepting because they are all in the same boat as you. (new place, new people) so they will want to get to know you.

Just be yourself, you will find that there are more ppl with the same interests as you :)
Reply:I only saw one person I knew at my college when I went and it was in the same area as my high school. In college there are no cliques, no one knows who the heck you are anyway or doesn't know anything about you up to that point.
Reply:when u go to college, odds are you will not see the same people you did in high school. you can become a new person, but just remember to be yourself and you should make friends no problem.
Reply:I'm gonna meet new people.

VIVA LA RAZA!
Reply:meet new people. it is a diverse world
