Where to meet new people as a teen?

I'm 18 and I'm looking to meet some new people to hang out with. What are some good ideas? Asian american groups are a bonus... my interests include geeky stuff (computers) and books and politics and other stuff. I'm kinda shy/awkward and I'm a little insecure, so I'm looking for groups who are willing and open to take newcomers on.

are you in college yet? join some student groups. or get involved in a non-profit group... volunteer somewhere.
Reply:church is good! do you work? usually you can meet alot of people when you work in a social working environment. restaurants and retail are the best social places to work. also, going ballroom dancing. learning to dance with a bunch of sifferent guys is so fun and when you guys run out of stuff to talk to, you can always just focus on dancing!

well, thats probably the best advice i can give ya!

BUT clubbing is NOT a good way to meet people. its way too loud and guys are only interested in grinding and getting laid when you go to clubs. internet is another horrible place! you never know who people really are by just typing back and forth.
Reply:umm clubbing ...on the internet...partys
Reply:Youth or young adult church groups.
Reply:So fit my description.

Try church, school, science club, the library, book store, join a book club, volunteer...
