I want to meet new people but I don't know how! I live in Australia?

Hey,


I didn't get the best start in highschool and now I don't have many friends to hang out with and the ones I do have are all busy! I want a change of scenery meet new people have more fun then I do now! I love my friends now but I want to meet new people and get out of the house more! Can anybody give me any ideas?

I want to meet new people but I don't know how! I live in Australia?
join a club, take a class, a team sport or something of the like that will introduce you to new people with similar interests to you. where in oz do you live? that will helpgive mors specific suggestions...
Reply:I know just one thing,do not meet new people on the internet.
Reply:Try a book club, sports club or even take a night class. I met some wonderful people when I did a night class at a local high school.





I live in NZ but I love visiting Sydney there is so much to do...check out the newspapers and see if there are any social groups advertised...scrabble clubs etc.....I know it might seem geeky but if you turn up to a club and it sucks you don't have to go back but at least you've given yourself the opportunity to meet new people....

Reply:Make it into project self makeover then, it will be fun, change your image or hairstyle, make some new friends and you might even get interested in some new hobbies. Ya get out of the house more, check on events that are happening in Sydney maybe some tourism stuffs or some kind of annual sports stuffs, something that interest you that's gonna be held in the city. Then just attend them and I am sure you will find a lot of people there that you can meet. Don't worry and be friendly, you are bound to meet some nice new people that even share the same interest as you. Have fun!
Reply:the best way i met my closest friends was through work get a job in a bar or even an office it ends up like an extended family and there are plenty of work events and birthdays that way you get two sets of friends ones from school and work mates
Reply:nellephant had the right idea, join a club at school, but make it something that your interested in, that way you and those new people would share the same interests. for an out of school idea, the best place would probably be the mall. go window shopping and when you see someone looking at something you like you can comment on how it looks good and they have good taste. by their response you will know if they are the kind of person that you can keep chit chatting with or if its a walk away moment. i picked up a couple girls that way, lol.
