How to meet new people?

I go to a small new catholic school, I am a sophomore and the highest grade level thus far, so I have already met and know everyone in my school. Our sports are with schools at least an hour away, and we don't talk to people there much anyway. No one goes to our library, which is by the community college. I go to this club event every month or so, and i meet people there but its also small and it is rarely local. I go to the local mall/ movies, but usually everyone has their own little groups and people don't talk to other people there unless they already know them. I don't want to hook up with people online, I think that's pretty lame. The kind of people I want to meet are relatively smart, nice, fun people. What are some intra school activities? Any ideas on how to meet new people?

Try going to your schools sports venues! There are always different people there and you can break the ice by talking about the team.
